In the exhibition space a steeplejack is installed. It holds a platform with a size of two square meters and covered with fake grass. Since the exhibition space is in the basement, the platform is now positioned on ground level. This makes it possible to observe what is happening within and outside the building. The distance between this platform and the surrounding walls defining the exhibitions space, can’t be physically bridged. During one month different people are occupying this plateau. They work with the different features of this position within the building, the surrounding streets and the city. “Platform 4” functions as a working space, a meeting point, an observation spot, a contact space and a source of inspiration. Next to all this it is an exhibited space. This means that all actions of the participants on the plateau are exhibited. From the platform it is possible to observe the environment, but the environment also has the opportunity to observe what is happening on the platform. In this project everybody is a viewer. You have the possibility to look inside through the windows from the street. You can observe the project from the shop and the entrance, and you can also enter the exhibition space and look from there. The project takes place in the Designcenter de winkelhaak in de Lange Winkelhaakstraat 26, 2060 Antwerpen, from the 21st of July until the 19th of August . It’s opened from Monday to Friday from 9.00 until 18.00 en on Saturdays from 14.00 until 18.00.
