Pirate radio transmission + Balloon mapping

During a performative event we develop strategies to commonize the electromagnetic field as evidence for an alternative, community-owned definition of land, air and frequencies. Antenna's and voicing on different frequencies (fm, wifi,...), signals the electromagnetic spectrum as a critical natural resource. Tune in your radio on 108FM, download a SSTV demodulator and follow the radio balloon live from the rooftop of ExtraCity. Open hardware and devices co-opted from Public Lab, a grassroots citizen projects and research group, collectively embodied in a social choreography.

Open lab – Demonstration - Performative event - Workshop

During an open Lab and performative event, we 'try_out' different devices which can be co-opted by grassroots citizen projects and research. We will initiate how to program microprocessors, and execute scripts via command line. Learning by making and doing, we develop tactics and strategies to commonize the electromagnetic spectrum. We retrace our route, map the area (port) and make pirate radio transmission on a very local scale (images, text, audio, data, morse,..). Bring your Computer (linux, mac) with ethernet port AND/ORphoto camera, AND/OR other devices .
